At SD Maintenance LTD, we are committed to ensuring the health,
safety, and well-being of all our employees, contractors, and clients. We
believe that all accidents and incidents are preventable. This policy aims
to provide a framework to eliminate or minimize risks to our employees and
others affected by our operations.
We are committed to:
- Providing a safe working environment.
- Identifying and assessing risks associated with maintenance work.
- Training employees and contractors to ensure they understand health and safety procedures.
- Complying with all relevant health and safety legislation.
- Regularly reviewing our health and safety policies and practices.
Employer Responsibilities:
- Ensure the company complies with all UK health and safety laws, including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
- Provide appropriate resources to maintain a safe working environment.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and review procedures for safe working practices.
- Ensure all employees receive appropriate health and safety training.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to determine causes and prevent recurrence.
- Follow all health and safety procedures and instructions provided by SD Maintenance LTD.
- Use equipment and machinery correctly and safely.
- Report any unsafe working conditions or practices to management immediately.
- Take reasonable care of their own health and safety, as well as the health and safety of others.
SD Maintenance LTD is dedicated to identifying
potential hazards in the workplace and minimizing risks. All maintenance
tasks will be assessed for risks and potential dangers, including but not
limited to:
- Working at height
- Electrical hazards
- Moving machinery and tools
- Exposure to hazardous materials
- Manual handling
- Slips, trips, and falls
Risk assessments will be conducted before any work commences, and control measures will be put in place to reduce or eliminate risks. The risk assessments will be regularly reviewed and updated.
4. Health and Safety Training
SD Maintenance LTD provides ongoing training to
ensure all employees are familiar with health and safety procedures relevant
to their job roles. Training includes, but is not limited to:
- Manual handling techniques
- Working at height
- Fire safety and evacuation procedures
- First aid
- Emergency procedures
- Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
The company provides employees with the necessary PPE, including:
- Safety helmets
- High-visibility clothing
- Safety boots
- Gloves
- Eye protection
- Respiratory protective equipment (where necessary)
Employees must use PPE when required and ensure it is maintained in good condition.
6. First Aid and Emergency Procedures- SD Maintenance LTD ensures that first aid kits are readily available at all worksites.
- All employees are informed about the location of first aid kits and the contact details for trained first aiders.
- In the event of a medical emergency, employees are to contact emergency services immediately (dial 999).
- An emergency evacuation plan is in place for each job site and is communicated to all staff.
All accidents, no matter how minor, must be reported
to management immediately. The company will conduct an investigation to
determine the cause of any incidents and take corrective actions to prevent
a recurrence.
- A detailed accident log will be maintained and reviewed regularly.
- Corrective actions will be implemented where necessary, including adjustments to risk assessments, procedures, and training.
For each site or project, SD Maintenance LTD will provide specific
health and safety procedures based on the nature of the work. This includes:
- Safe working procedures for specific tasks (e.g., electrical work, working with hazardous materials, etc.).
- Clear signage for restricted areas and hazards.
- Emergency procedures for site-specific situations (e.g., fire drills, evacuation plans).
Health and safety policies and procedures will be
regularly reviewed to ensure they remain effective and compliant with the
latest legislation. This includes:
- Regular site inspections to monitor the implementation of safety procedures.
- Employee feedback on health and safety concerns.
- Review of accident records and incidents.

with all relevant UK health and safety regulations, including:
